Colton Hayes is best known for his roles in MTV’s Teen Wolf and the CW superhero TV series Arrow. He started out as a model at the age of fifteen for Abercrombie and Fitch and quickly appeared in many magazines such as Teen Vogue. He started acting in guest roles in movies, TV, and music videos. He auditioned for the role of Edward Cullen in the movie Twilight, but the part went to Robert Pattinson instead.

In 2014, Haynes returned to modeling by participating in Abercrombie and Fitch’s “Making of a Star” campaign.

In 2019, the actor revealed he had struggled with alcohol and drug addiction for years. When his mother died and his marriage failed at the same time, he states, “things took a turn for the worse. In ten years there were maybe 25 days that I didn’t drink”. Colton says “I remember when it started it was maybe a few glasses of wine and it regressed into really dark times…I used to blame it on my anxiety or depression issues but really the root of all my problems was the alcohol and drugs”.

After several hospital visits, he finally entered a four-month treatment program. This came specifically after an involuntary psychiatric hold (a 5150) where the 30-year old was held in a hospital. He readily admits the decision to go to rehab had to come from him. “If anyone else had told me to get help, I would be like – no”.

He adds “I’m always going to be in recovery. It’s just a different life now. It’s the best gift I’ve ever been given”.
