You may know that Rhianna is an award-winning singer, fashion designer, and businesswoman. She can now add “billionaire” to her resume! On August 4th, Forbes magazine reported her new title, self-made billionaire, and the wealthiest female musician in the world.
The 33-year-old star’s net worth is an estimated 1.7 billion. She is also the world’s second-wealthiest female entertainer – behind Oprah Winfrey, 67.
Rhianna gets a lot of fulfillment from the time and energy she put into building an enviable machine of a business. She’s definitely the one in charge. “It isn’t a chore for her, she loves it and all she gets, she deserves,” says a close source. Forbes estimates $270 million comes from her size-inclusive lingerie line.
While Rhianna makes her success look easy, she grew up in less than ideal conditions and faced more than her share of struggles. She grew up in Barbados and enjoyed being “just a little island girl riding bikes, running around barefoot, and flying kites in the cemetery”. But at home, her father’s drinking was a huge problem – especially on Fridays. “He got paid on Friday and half of it would go towards alcohol”, she recalls.
Rhianna says drugs broke up the family home and also says her dad bought drugs “even when food in the house was low”. “Even as a toddler, I learned that my mum and dad would argue when there was foil paper in the ashtray”, referring to drug packaging.
Rhianna was exposed to negative things much earlier in life than most. Today she’s a happy billionaire with no plans to slow down.
