Los Angeles Guard Alex Caruso was arrested last Summer for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in Texas.

Both were misdemeanor charges.

According to ESPN who spoke to Lieutenant Bobby Richardson of the Texas A&M Police Department, Caruso tried to board a flight at McKinsey Airport – located on the A&M campus.

The Transportation and Security Administration searched Caruso’s bags and found a herb grinder that contained marijuana.

Caruso was born in College Station, Texas and his family still resides there. He played for the Texas A&M Aggies from 2012-2016 before going undrafted in 2016. He was named to the SEC All-Defensive Team in 2015, and the Second-team All-SEC defense in 2016.

According to online records, Caruso was arrested for possession of less than two ounces of marijuana. He was released after posting bond.

Caruso played collegiately at Texas A&M.

Since signing with the Lakers in 2017, the 27-year-old has played a key role off the bench for the following four seasons. He averaged 6.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 58 games this past season.

Caruso has apologized for setting a bad example for the youth that look up to him through his impressive basketball career. A recent study shows that participation in sports actually plays a role in decreasing illicit drug use among teens, particularly during high school. This suggests that this may be a critical period to reduce or prevent the use of drugs through sport for kids.
